The quarter-arre recruit of the first round giants, Jaxson Dart, experienced another solid pre-season performance Thursday evening, and head coach Brian Daboll is delighted with the progression that Dart Da makes.
“Being a recruit quarter is not easy – being a quarter -arre is not easy – so he knows that he has a lot to work, but he has made progress every day and I am happy that we have written him. I’m glad he is our guy,” said Daboll.
Dart went 6 for 12 for 81 yards with a touchdown and no interception, then left the match after taking a blow at the end of a 23 yards race. Daboll likes the aggressiveness that Dart showed during this race, but would have preferred to see him slide at the end.
“I would not train it, there are just times when you have to make the right decision, and I would say that this particular game is a good time to slide, in a pre-season match,” said Daboll. “Each situation is different. I had different quarters that could run and were productive to manage football, but there is a time and a place that you would like to take as little as you can. I like the competitiveness of Jaxson, its tenacity. You must never make the right decision.”
Daboll said Dart had just brought the wind out of him and was allowed to come back, but that was the right time for the game to get him out anyway. Jameis Winston and Tommy Devito both played well after Dart left the match, and Daboll said that he was very satisfied with all the performances of his quarter-back this pre-season.
It’s now time for the regular season, and Russell Wilson will start the first week. But Dart is the main reason why the giants must be enthusiastic about their future.
