Aphrodite Deng, 15 years old, tied in second row while Waie Iwai goes for consecutive LPGA victories in Canada

Mississauga, Ontario – Akie Iwai was back in the ranking of the CPKC women’s open ranking on Thursday, four days after her revolutionary victory in the Portland Classic.

Iwai closed his afternoon in Mississaugua Golf and Country Club with birdies on the eighth and ninth holes by 4 for a 74-year-old and a two-stroke advance.

“Last week, I won, but it’s already in the past, already passed,” said Iwai.

The fifteen -year -old Canadian lover, Aphrodite Deng, was tied in the second row with Jeeno Thitikul, Leona Maguire, Gaby Lopez, the 2023 winner, Megan Khang.

On Sunday in Oregon, Iwai joined Twin Sister Chisato as the winner of the Rookie LPGA tour. The 23 -year -old Japanese player had second place in Thailand in February and Los Angeles in April, then saw her sister win in Mayakoba in May in Mexico.

She plays Canada for the first time.

“Really beautiful lessons,” said Akie Iwai, a winner six times at the JLPGA Tour. “It looks like something similar in Japan.”

Chisato Iwai Bugeyed Nos 8 and 9 to draw 75.

Deng was born in Calgary, Alberta, and his family lived in Montreal before moving to New Jersey for his father’s work. She now lives now in Orlando, Florida, but remains a Canadian citizen and plays for the Junior Golf Canada program.

“I’m just trying to hit each shot in the fairway,” said Deng.

Thitikul played his first round since he took first place in the world of Nelly Korda.

“I think like another day of work for me,” said Thitikul.

Korda opened with a 69.

Canadian star Brooke Henderson had four birdies and four bogeys in 71. The 2018 champion won the last of 13 LPGA round titles in January 2023.

“Just grateful that we were able to bring him equal,” said Henderson.

She played alongside Thitikul and the female winner of the Open Écossais Lottie Woad, who pulled 75.

The defending champion Lauren Coughlin had a 74. She won last year in Calgary.
